May 13: The Odyssey Reading Group
Many of you have expressed interest in reading The Odyssey, but also some hesitation. I know it’s an ambitious book. Still, it would be wonderful for the Thinking Through community to become familiar with the story before it begins to take over public discourse with the film’s release in July.
Let’s meet over Zoom and read alongside one another, each picking up from where they left off. This will be a recurring gathering every Wednesday.

May 31: Thinking Through Queer with Jay Mimes
What does it mean to live queerly? What does it take to do so everyday? What are its risks and rewards? What happens when we think of queerness only as an identity to claim or a category to fit into, but as a engaging with the world. What does this expansion make possible?
In this session of Thinking Through, we explore queer existence as an othered identity, a daily practice, and a form of future imagination.

June 7: Thinking Through Love
Let’s discuss love as a societal phenomenon and explore what kind of society allows love to flourish.
Is love strengthened or weakened by freedom? If you were designing a society to amplify human connection and emotional flourishing, what would it look like? How do technology and dating apps change not only how we meet, but also how we think of love itself? What role do - economic, political, ecological- uncertainty and instability play in contemporary relationships?
